Welcome to DSCC's Children's Ministry!

Through this ministry we seek to "Connect Ordinary Families with an Extraordinary God." We have a passion for reaching children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our teachers are committed to the Word of God and to serving Christ.   The Children's Ministry volunteers who serve with us have been screened through a national background check.  Children's Ministry Director: Tracey Bowman

Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it."

What a privilege we have to impact our children's lives!

Opportunities to Serve

Nursery

Many loving arms are waiting to ministry to your baby in our excellent Nursery!  Supplied with everything a little one may need to be comfortable and nurtured, you'll find the following:
Nursery Director: Sharon Stewart

Little Sprouts

(Preschoolers born on or before February 28, 2008 through 5 years old and not yet in Kindergarten)

Our preschoolers are known as "Little Sprouts." Our goal is to influence your child's heart to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. We are not merely "babysitters"; we are Teachers, Helpers, and Caregivers. All of our volunteers in this ministry are serving the Lord by helping to express the Love of Christ to your child and family.

While in this ministry, your child will be exposed to Bible learning and loving others in the body of Christ. We utilize the Learning Center approach to reach all styles of learners while communicating the Bible Point of the Day.

We want to assure you that we do everything possible to ensure your child will be in a safe and caring atmosphere.

The children are in age appropriate classes where they are taught by loving, carefully screened teachers. The teachers tell them Bible stories, put on puppet shows, help them work on crafts, play lesson-oriented games, and sing children's worship songs. Our goal is that each child leaves feeling loved and cared for and they start to understand that Jesus loves them. Each class focuses on a Bible Point or Story.

Circle of Friends

(Elementary: Kindergarten through 4th grade)

We call our elementary age Sunday Morning Program, Circle of Friends. Every time your child attends a Sunday morning program, your child will hear God's Word. He/She might also participate in crafts, games, or activities that help to reinforce the lesson. They will learn to use a Bible to look up verses, encounter exciting object lessons or experiments, they might see puppet skits, and even participate in an active worship time. All of our volunteers serving in this ministry are serving the Lord by helping to express the Love of Christ to your child and family. We strive to assist you in teaching your children about Christ's love and the ultimate sacrifice he made for us.

9:30am and 11:00am Services - During our two services, children are taught in age appropriate classes where they have loving teachers who show children how to open the Bible and find out what God's word can teach us about our daily lives. We teach kids to go deep into the Bible to seek out God's truth. We strive to make the Word of God something that all children can understand and begin to live out.

  Children's Choir

The DSCC Kids Choir meets during the 8:00am service every Sunday.  This is an excellent opportunity for elementary- aged students (Kindergarten through 4th grade) to strengthen their vocal and choral music skills as well as rehearse and perform age appropriate choral music – all with the express purpose of praising God through song and scripture.  Coordinator: Geoff Hutter

The children's first performance will be March 21st during all three morning services.

VBS Volunteer Informational Meeting - Sunday, March 14th at 3:30pm

Join us and find out how you can serve!  We are now recruiting for VBS Volunteers to participate in various aspects of the VBS preparations and/or to participate with the children during the week of VBS.  Please contact Tracey Bowman  or visit our VBS Table on Sunday mornings for more information.

What's VBS about this year?

Last year, we criss-crossed the cosmos! We became Cadets at Operation Space. This close encounter with God’s Word taught Cadets the truth about the Bible while it explored the wonders of the heavens. Cadets were challenged to learn, love, and live the Bible during our 5 nights of BASIC training.  This was a galactic adventure like no other where kids learned to connect the Bible to the real world.  We had 546 Cadets in attendance and we had 35 professions for Christ made during this exciting week!

We are excitedly preparing for this summer's Vacation Bible School.  Our children are constantly bombarded with the message that they are nothing more than just another animal—a product of countless years of random processes. From movies to books, they are brainwashed with the idea that they are nothing special and there is no God to whom they are accountable for their actions.

That's where The Egypt File comes in! Children will learn that God made them in His very image—they are special and set apart from the animals! Our purpose in life is to love and serve Him.
