African MissionsDesert Springs Community Church supports the following missionaries In Africa:

Alice Statler – World Venture – Senegal

A native of Morenci, AZ, Alice, has been with WorldVenture for over 20 years in Senegal, West Africa.  Her mission has been to make the Gospel relevant to a 92 percent Muslim society.  There are now Christians in each of the 30 tribes.  Her prayer is that God will raise up a strong Sengalese church that impacts all of West Africa for the Lord Jesus Christ.  Alice’s ministry is directing a discipleship & leadership training course for women.

Ernie & Jan Eadelman – World Venture – Mali, W. Africa

Their primary ministry focus is training nationals in communication skills and getting the Word of God out through Christian radio.  They work with the Senufo and Jula language groups of southern Mali. The Senufoes are farmers, the Julas are merchants.  Major challenges include building redemptive relationships among the people in the area, and training the radio staff to use computers and other technology.  Their prayer is that God would raise up a strong church in this country.

Don & April Brenneman – Sports Outreach Institute – E. Africa

Sports Outreach Institute (SOI) is a rapidly growing, non-denominational organization supported by a cross-section of evangelical churches and individuals.  The purpose of SOI is to build models of outreach and to identify, train and equip the local church in the effective use and understanding of sports ministry as a tool of evangelism and discipleship. SOI ministers in refugee camps, orphanages, schools and prisons.

Esther Wallis – Advance for Life Christian Academy – S. Africa

"The start of the year saw us bundle our top students into a bus and head off for camp.  We had an awesome time doing team building exercises and getting into the Word of God.  Thanks you once again for the interest you show in God’s work here at the school. We are starting Grade 8 next year and adding a grade each year until we are a full school from Grade R to Grade 12."

Jim & Terry Miller –  ABWE - Cape Town, S. Africa

After training at an Evangelism Explosion clinic to become a lay teacher, Jim traveled to Ireland and Ukraine where he trained national believers to share the gospel with their own people. "We have a passion to train South African believers to 'go and do likewise.'"

They are seeing their goal of going to serve where God has called getting closer. They are excited as their heart’s desire is to share the Gospel with the people in Cape Town, and they are praying that God would get them there soon. At their home church they are having Sunday night institute classes and the children are learning about missions. They were given an opportunity to speak with them about the steps that the Lord has led them in. They have begun to pray that the Lord would bring them to 85% support by September so they can attend their field preparation seminar. Please pray that whatever the Lord’s will, that this would be an opportunity for them to draw close to the Lord through prayer.
