Asian MissionsDesert Springs Community Church supports the following missionaries in Asia:

Doug & Melody Penney – World Venture – Taiwan

Primary ministry focus of the ministry  is evangelism, leadership training and church development.  Only about 3 percent of the people in Taiwan are Christian, most are influenced by a strong tradition of Buddhism, Taoist, and ancestor worship, but materialism is a rising force in the young people.  Major challenges include guiding people who have heard the gospel to believe in the Lord, and commit to serve in the church.  Their prayer is that they will be bold and sensitive in sharing the need for a Savior to their Taiwanese friends.

Isaac & Tara Manogarom – Freedom in Christ Ministries

Directors of Freedom Ministries, run Freedom In Christ’s office in Chennai, India, as well as a Christian publishing business and a children’s home.  They have always dreamed of providing a home for baby girls who would otherwise be abandoned or just given away due to gender inequality in their part of the world. May 15, 2007 was a significant day for their family and ministry as a dedication service was held for the newly formed STEPS Children’s Home. This home will take in, care for and nurture baby girls and try to place them in loving homes with welcoming, caring parents. The mission of STEPS Children’s Home is to find, foster and free abandoned baby girls between ages 0-2.

Jeff & Sarah – Frontiers – Central Asia

Jim & Joy Abbott – New Tribes Mission - Indonesia

Jim and Joy both grew up in Christian homes, but very different backgrounds. Joy, the youngest of three girls, moved around a lot. She's lived in 5 states in multiple cities. Jim, on the other hand grew up an only child. He moved only once during childhood, and it was only a couple of miles away. In February of 2001 we met at New Tribes Bible Institute in Jackson, MI. This is were we made our decision to be a part of each others lives and a part of New Tribes Mission. After Graduating from NTBI we were married on July 19, 2003.  For the next two years we lived and worked in Jackson. We were actively involved in our home church, Bethel. In April 2005 we welcomed Arika into the world. That fall we moved to Durham, Ontario to finish our  missionary training with NTM. On June 2, 2007 we finished the Training and became members of New Tribes Mission. It was on December 1, 2008 that we welcomed our second Child Lincoln into the world. Currently we are living back in the Jackson area, as we raise the prayer and financial support we need to live and minister in Indonesia.

Indigenous  Ministries  International ministers in India with a focus on  church planting and pastoral training.  Since 1997, over 190 churches have come into existence through partnering relationships with new and existing works in India.  With a long-term goal of building self-sustaining ministries, IMI brings new and fresh ways of building into these expanding works
