Desert Springs Worship Ministry
The goal of the Music and Worship Ministry at Desert Springs Community Church is to glorify God corporately through the medium of music. We promote well-balanced spiritual and theological God-centered worship that transcends all stylistic preferences. This is a ministry of the Word, in which the medium is music, and God our only audience. What a beautiful gift the Lord has given us to praise Him so expressively! Truly, we are privileged to have been called by Him to worship with all our hearts and minds.
There are many exciting ways to serve in the Music and Worship Ministry here at Desert Springs and we would welcome your participation! To be involved in these ministries, please contact the Pastor of Music and Worship to set up a time to share your testimony and see how you might serve in the Music and Worship Ministry of Desert Springs Community Church.
Worship Choir
Encouraging the Saints…
The Worship Choir sings in worship during the Sunday morning and Sunday evening services. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 4:15 – 5:45pm. Membership is open to anyone who is high school age and above. The Worship choir also participates in a Fall Retreat, Christmas Dinner Theater, Palm Sunday concert, Sugarsticks as well as various church family functions throughout the year.
Vocal Ensembles / Soloists
Driving the message home…
Various vocal ensembles and soloists are drawn from those committed servants of the Worship Choir and are scheduled to sing regularly in the Sunday services. Some of the ensembles that are a normal feature of our worship services are the Worship Teams, Mixed Vocal Ensemble, Men’s Quartets, Mixed Quartets and Ladies Ensembles.
Praise Band
Praising Him with All sorts of instruments…
Our Worship Bands are the strong core instrumental ensemble that aids in leading corporate worship every Sunday morning and Sunday evening. The DSCC band rehearses every Saturday morning at 9:00 am in preparation to play for the services on Sundays. In addition, there are brass and woodwind ensembles and soloists that play on the fourth Sunday of each month and for special occasions. If you play an instrument and would like to serve in this way, come join us. Whatever you play, we’ll find a place for you to serve!
Technical Ministry Team
Enabling the message to go forth…
Serving a vital role of support to all the ministries here at DSCC is our Technical Ministry Team. There are opportunities in Sound, Lighting, SongShow Presentation, Stage Management and Videography for those who desire to use their technical talents and abilities to serve and bring glory to our God. We’re especially in need of folks to serve on an occasional basis, and for mid-week and off-campus events.
Children’s Choir
*NEW* Kids Choir begins January 24, 2010!
The DSCC Kids Choir meets during the 8:00am service every Sunday. This is an excellent opportunity for elementary aged students (Kindergarten through 4th grade) to strengthen their vocal and choral music skills as well as rehearse and perform age appropriate choral music – all with the express purpose of praising God through song and scripture. Coordinator: Geoff Hutter
Dinner Theater
Presenting the gospel through music, drama and dance…
Each Christmas DSCC presents a large scale production that incorporates singers, musicians, dancers, actors, etc. Every 2 years we put on a full Broadway style musical, while on the off years we do a more eclectic variety of singing and acting. The purpose of this production is for outreach to those who may not know our Lord. Seasonal participation is allowed and welcomed within the Worship Choir and Drama ministry.
Drama
Presenting the message through acting…
Our drama department here at DSCC is always looking for new talent. Led by the talented Mary Rogers, our drama teams frequently meet to rehearse for upcoming events. The drama teams present everything from short sketches to full length plays. They act for VBS, periodic morning and evening services, Fourth Quarter gatherings, Dinner Theater, and various other opportunities. Anyone from young to old is encouraged to act in a drama team.
